i’ve been designing motion media animations using adobe after effects & premiere for a solid decade. i’ve been able to work with los angeles clothing brands, large ad agencies, television networks and most fruitfully— independent musicians/record labels all within los angeles/southern california.
although maintaining a clean/minimal visual approach for corporate/branded content (as is the contemporary aesthetic… you won’t find any of that here since this page is devoted to my art), i’ve been incredibly lucky enough to work with talented musicians and use the post-production medium to experiment and push personal aesthetics and design (most times years before they actually do fall into mainstream) to help the musicians visualize their sonic landscape and/or personal image in a fun and unique way.
i take major pride in the attention to texture and the subtleties of movement & flow that help create unique visual atmospheres reminiscent of another era— but with a more maximalist spin through our modern tech. i’ve studied the works of animators like John Whitney, Robert Abel, Dan Peri, Nam June Paik, and Kenneth Anger (an experimenter of texture, color and layered movement in his own right) and use my own textures acquired through personally shooting and experimenting with it in hd or lofi (sd/old school cameras). as stated in my bio, i’m infatuated with the grit & degeneration of iconography relating to “new hollywood” era, psychedelia, SoCal surf culture and retro capitalism/commercialism.
